We accept donations of any amount, but offer the following suggested membership levels:
- Single membership = $20 / year
- Couple's membership (same household) = $30 / year
- Student membership = $10 / year
- Sustaining membership = $100 / year
- Business sponsorship = $100 / year minimum
•Business Sponsors will be listed on our business sponsors page.
The Idaho Jazz Education Endowment is a 501(c)3 charitable tax organization incorporated in the State of Idaho. Our IRS tax identification number is 82-0434959.
Other than very minor operating expenses, our primary financial obligations include funding scholarships for aspiring jazz musicians at the middle/junior/high school levels, as well as the college/university level, and sponsoring and promoting live jazz and jazz festivals throughout Idaho. Donations from individuals and sponsorships from local businesses are the primary sources of funding our day-to-day work. No IJS board member or officer receives a salary; we all volunteer our time.
DAYLE FOWLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Thanks to considerable help from the estate of the late Dayle Fowler, we are now building an endowment fund to help sustain our ability to award scholarships over the long term. Dayle Fowler, who lived in the Sun Valley area, was a long time enthusiastic supporter of various jazz events throughout Idaho, and of the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment in particular. Accordingly, our top college scholarship award each year will be named the "Dayle Fowler Memorial Scholarship."
PHILIP B. GARONZIK MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
In addition, we offer a scholarship for junior/middle/high school age students, the "Philip B. Garonzik Memorial Music Scholarship." This scholarship honors the musical legacy of jazz musician, Phil Garonzik and his commitment to jazz and quality music education. Donations that are made toward this scholarship must be noted accordingly in order for them to be correctly earmarked. Be sure to indicate if your donation is specifically intended for the PBG Scholarship fund in your online donations, or, if writing a check, make checks payable to the "Idaho Jazz Education Endowment" adding PBG Scholarship in the memo line.
